The modern-rock band Pistols At Dawn hails from Atlanta, Georgia. Drummer Adam Jaffe, guitarist Devin White, and guitarist Mike Buffa formed the band in 2015 and quickly decamped to the recording studio, where they tracked several songs with producer Jeff Tomei. Despite the momentum, the group quickly lapsed into inactivity as its members focused on other projects. When Buffa passed away unexpectedly in 2018, Pistols At Dawn reunited in his honor, this time with a larger lineup that also featured bassist Sean Benham, guitarist Will James, and frontman Cris Hodges. A self-titled debut album, Pistols At Dawn, was released in 2019, featuring seven tracks that blended overdriven guitars with emotive melodies. The singles "Cold" and "Gauntlet" both enjoyed popularity on digital streaming platforms, and the band released a non-album single, "All You Offer," the following year. A follow-up EP, Nocturnal Youth, followed in 2021, featuring the singles "Voices" and "Crown." Having worked with Tomei on their earliest material, the bandmates tapped producer Sylvia Massy to helm their second album, Ascension. The record was released in 2022 and produced two Top 40 singles on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Songs chart: "The Truth," which peaked at Number 33, and "Under the Surface," which debuted at Number 40.
