In 1989, friends Iñaki Antón and Juantxu Olano, both formally of the band Ke, decided to form a new group and called themselves Platero y Tú. Olano's neighbour and guitarist Fito Cabrales joined them for a rehearsal one night and became the newest member of the band. They recorded their debut album, Voy A Acabar Borracho in 1991 and got the attention of a label which offered to help them make their second an even bigger success. Burrock'n'roll was released the following year with the follow-up Muy Deficiente coming the year after. The group went on to record a further six albums including the live offering A Pelo before disbanding in 2001.
