Plutónio is the stage name of João Ricardo Azevedo Colaço (May 28, 1985), a Portuguese rapper of Mozambican descent. Hailing from the Cruz Vermelha neighborhood in Lisbon, he took his first steps in music as a member of the rap group collective Atoxicos in the early aughts. Histórias da Minha Life, his official debut, came out in 2013 and was followed by Preto & Vermelho three years later. However, mainstream success wouldn’t arrive until 2019 when he dropped Sacrifício: Sangue, Lágrimas & Suor, his third full-length. Released through Bridgetown Records, the album represented a major breakthrough for Plutónio, exposing him to a wider audience and propelling his popularity to new heights. Four of the album's singles entered the Portuguese Top 10 and were certified either gold or platinum—“Meu Deus,” “1 de Abril,” “Lucy Lucy,” and “Vergonha na Cara.” That same year, he was nominated in the category of Best Portuguese Artist at the MTV Europe Music Awards. In 2021, Plutónio returned with the single “2 da Matina,” which reached Number 69 on the Portuguese charts.
