PnB Rock – born Rakim Hasheem Allen on December 9, 1991 - was a rapper from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania best known for his 2016 single “Selfish.” The PnB in his stage name was a reference to the junction of Pastorius and Baynton Streets near where he grew up in Philly. When he was 3, his father was murdered and he was brought up by his mother, spending much of his childhood in shelters. After serving a prison sentence for drug possession, PnB Rock released his debut mixtape, Real N*gga Bangaz, in 2014. He followed that up with the mixtapes RnB 2 and RnB 3, both released in 2015. That same year, he came to prominence with his singles “Fleek” and “Jealous” (featuring Fetty Wap). In 2016, PnB Rock released the single “Selfish,” which reached Number 21 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Singles chart, Number 16 on the Rap Singles chart, and Number 51 on the Hot 100. After guesting with artists such as Kodak Black and Kevin Hart, PnB Rock released the mixtape GTTM: Goin Thru the Motions (2017), which included “Selfish.” His proper debut album, Catch These Vibes, was released later in 2017. His second album, TrapStar Turnt PopStar, was released in 2019 and included the single “I Like Girls” (featuring Lil Skies). Further non-album singles by PnB Rock include 2019’s “Fendi” (featuring Nicki Minaj and Murder Beatz), 2020’s “Ordinary” (featuring Pop Smokes), and 2022’s “Luv Me Again.” On September 12, 2022, PnB Rock was shot and killed while dining at Roscoe’s House of Chicken and Waffles in Los Angeles, California.
