Pollapönk

Pollapönk was formed by Hei-ar Örn Kristjánsson and Haraldur Freyr Gíslason when they were training to be teachers. They were in the band Botnle-ja together but wanted to create music that could be enjoyed by both parents and their children. Pollapönk was born, and the pair released their self-titled debut album as a graduation project. The following year they were joined by Haraldur's brother, Arnar Fór Gíslason, and Gu-ni Finnsson on drums and bass guitar and the core line-up of Pollapönk was complete. A second album, 'Meira Pollapönk' ('More Pollapönk') followed in 2010 and the naming streak continued into their 2011 release 'A-eins Meira Pollapönk' ('A Bit More Pollapönk'). In 2014 the band reached an international audience when it entered the Eurovision Song Contest with anti-bullying song 'Enga Fordóma', rewritten into English as 'No Prejudice', and finished in 15th place.
