Originally formed in 2010 by trio Luiz Tomim, also known as "Tomim", Adriel de Menezes, also known as "AdR", and DJ Kalfan, São Paulo rap troupe Pollo found fame online and at home in Brazil with their viral 2012 hit, “Vagalumes”. Featuring singer Ivo Mozart and the acoustic guitar, the song embodied Pollo’s soft-edged pop-inspired hip-hop, and was featured on the group’s debut album Vim Pra Dominar o Mundo, as well being featured on the soundtrack of soap opera Sangue Bom. Second album 777 followed in 2014 and 2016 saw the release of third album Supra-Sumo - Parte 1. The rap trio has scored a string of other hit songs online, including 2012’s "Piritubacity", which namechecks the band's place of origin, and "Zica do Bagui", a collaboration with Bonde da Stronda.
