The German power metal band Powerwolf was founded in 2003. It consists of singer Attila Dorn, bassist Charles Greywolf, guitarist Matthew Greywolf, organist Falk Maria Schlegel and drummer Roel van Helden. The band members perform under pseudonyms and have invented detailed background stories for their artificial characters. their debut album Return in Bloodred was released in 2005. Thanks to their sophisticated songwriting and turbulent live performances, Powerwolf build up a large fan base over the years. With Preachers of the Night (2013) and The Sacrament of Sin (2018), the band reached the top of the German album charts twice. in 2021, Powerwolf released the album Call of the Wild. The album climbs into the top 5 of the charts in German-speaking countries. The next Powerwolf album followed in April 2023 with the compilation Interludium. The next studio album, Wake Up the Wicked, followed just under a year later. The album climbed to the top of the charts in Germany and Austria. In Switzerland it reaches number 4.
