Powfu is the hip hop alias for Canadian rapper, singer and songwriter Isaiah Faber, whose 2019 single "Death Bed (Coffee for Your Head)" became a crossover hit on multiple charts in America, as well as a Top 10 hit in 17 other countries. Born in Vancouver, Canada on March 31, 1999, he was only 19 years old when he released "Death Bed (Coffee for Your Head)" on social media in early 2019. The song featured Powfu's laidback rapping, backed by samples of Beabadoobee's debut single, "Coffee." He released five digital-only EPs as an independent artist – Some Boring Love Stories, Part One (2018), and Parts Two, Three, and Four (2019) – before signing with Columbia and issuing the Poems of the Past EP (2020), which featured "Death Bed (Coffee for Your Head)." Rereleased as a single by Columbia Records in February 2020, it became a worldwide hit, earning platinum certifications in America, the U.K., Australia, and New Zealand. The song has been streamed more than one billion times since its release. After several more digital EPs including the fifth installment in the Some Boring Love Stories series, Powfu released his debut full-length album, Surrounded By Hounds and Serpents, in 2022. The following year, Powfu collaborated with New York-based DJ duo The Chainsmokers on the single “Fault in the Stars” (2023).
