Formed in 1993, at a time when many American bands were assimilating punk influences to give alternative rock its letters of nobility, The Presidents of the United States of America are distinguished by their marketing sense: they release an album on an election day and play under the famous Mount Rushmore. What's more, the band put their quirky stamp on the genre with a slew of hits, including the timeless "Lump " (1995).
