Born in Toronto, Canada on May 10, 1996, rapper Quinton Armani Gardner is better known by his stage name Pressa. His 2016 single “Novacane”, produced by Murda Beatz, was a success and brought him to the attention of a wider audience. Even though he was dealing with legal issues related to an alleged kidnapping – of which he was eventually cleared – he toured with Drake in 2017 and was featured in the documentary film 6ix Rising, which focused on Canadian hip-hop culture. Pressa released the digital mixtape Press Machine in 2017, which was quickly followed by Press a Brick in 2017, which featured the hit single “Canada Goose” (featuring Tory Lanez). Pressa then collaborated with numerous artists including Giggs (“Sexy”), K Koke (“D Ting Set”), Lil Uzer Vert (“420 in London”), and 6ixBuzz and Houdini (“Up and Down”). In 2019, he released his debut solo album, Prestige, which rose to the top of Canada’s hip-hop music charts. In February 2020, Pressa released the single “O.T.M. (Out the Mud)”. In May of that year, he signed with Sony Music Canada and released the single “96 Freestyle”. That same month, his friend and collaborator Houdini was shot and killed in downtown Toronto. In order to honor his friend, Pressa released “Mansion”, a previously unissued collaboration with Houdini.
