Jacob Lukas "Jake" Anderson, widely recognized by his stage name Prof, is an accomplished American rapper, singer, and producer. Born on April 29, 1984, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Prof began rhyming during his teenage years, adopting the moniker Gampo after a childhood friend. He first gained attention in the late 2000s with his independent releases Absolutely (2006) with Rahzwell, Project Gampo (2007), Recession Music (2009) with Paul St. Slim, and King Gampo (2011), all released via Stophouse Music Group. His talent soon caught the attention of Rhymesayers Entertainment, a prominent independent hip-hop label that signed him to their roster in 2013. Liability, his major-label debut, hit the shelves in 2015 and peaked at Number 141 on the Billboard 200. Prof would release one more album for Rhymesayers, 2018’s Pookie Baby, before being dropped by the label in 2020. Powderhorn Suites, his seventh studio effort, was finally issued by Stophouse in November of that year, reaching Number 36 on the US pop charts. This success was followed by Horse, which went to Number 111 on the Billboard 200 chart in 2023.
