Raisa

Pop and R&B singer Raisa – born Raisa Andriana on June 6, 1990, in Jakarta, Indonesia – is best known for hit “Serba Salah” and for her work with Indonesian pianist Kevin Aprilio and his band Andante. Raisa’s musical journey began when she became interested in music and began singing at the age of 3. She had very little formal musical training in her younger days and discovered her own unique voice while copying the singing styles of some of her favorite artists including Stevie Wonder, India Arie, Joss Stone, and others. Raisa began her performing career in 2008 when she collaborated with musician, producer, and composter David Foster at a concert in Jakarta. Raisa was already a member of the group Andante, led by keyboardist Kevin Aprilio, and continued to perform with the group even after they changed the band name to Vierra. In 2010, Raisa left Vierra when the record label encouraged the group to go in a different musical direction. Signing to Solid Records as a solo artist, she released her debut album, Raisa, in 2011. The album featured her first significant hit, “Serba Salah.” After the release of her second album, Heart to Heart (2013), she became a guest judge on the eighth season of Indonesian Idol, a short stint that eventually became permanent. Raisa also sang the Indonesian-language version of “A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes” for the 2015 film Cinderella when it was released in her home country. Her third album, Handmade, was released in April 2016, just one month after the release of the compilation album The Best of Raisa. She continued to release several singles and soundtrack recordings over the next several years before issuing the mini album It’s Personal in 2021. She followed that up with her fourth album, also titled It’s Personal, in 2022.
