Without being overly publicized, symphonic metal is attracting more and more fans throughout Europe. Bands are springing up all over the continent, from France to the Netherlands, from Sweden to Italy, like Rhapsody of Fire. Formed in 1993, Rhapsody of Fire debuted with Legendary Tales in 1997. Dawn of Victory in 2000 was their first success, and the album also made the SNEP charts in France. Power of the Dragonflame (2002), Symphony of Enchanted Lands II: The Dark Secret (2004), and Triumph or Agony (2006) combine good artistry and comfortable sales. In 2010, The Frozen Tears of Angels marks a new chapter in the saga of the Trieste gang. This chapter is extended in October 2010 with The Cold Embrace of Fear - A Dark Romantic Symphony . In 2011, From Chaos to Eternity brings the band's heroic fantasy period to a close. A few months later, guitarist Luca Turilli announced his departure from the band. Dark Wings of Steel is Rhapsody of Fire's first new album in 2013. However, the band is not yet stable. In succession, it loses another guitarist, Tom Hess, as well as one of its newly-integrated replacements, bassist Oliver Holzwarth. The revamped band opens a new chapter in its history, away from its heroic fantasy formula, with a new album released in January 2016, Into the Legend.
