Although best known as a member of the award-winning boy band Into1, Rikimaru Chikada has also received acclaim as a choreographer, professional dancer, and solo artist. He was born on November 2, 1993, in Hyōgo Prefecture, Japan. His mother was a jazz dancer who owned her own studio, and his sister — Yumeri Chikada — had begun to work professionally as a dancer, as well. Surrounded by the arts, Rikimaru began dancing at 4 years old and had won multiple awards by the time he relocated to Los Angeles as a teenager to train as a choreographer. Returning to Japan three years later, he entered the music industry by dancing in the music video of BoA's 2016 single "Look Book." He also competed in dance events like World Of Dance Junior and Dance Contest. Chikada returned to the music industry in 2019, when he joined the Japanese-Chinese boy group WARPs Up as the group's leader and chief choreographer. Although WARPS Up proved to be short-lived, he joined the lineup of Into1 two years later. The group released two EPs — The Storm Center and Go Further — in 2021 and won several awards that same year, including "Potential Newcomers Group" and "New Trending Group" at the 28th Chinese Top Ten Music Awards. A third EP, Into the Clouds, followed in 2022. Meanwhile, Rikimaru Chikada also launched a solo career in 2022, releasing the singles "UP and Down," "Daisy," and "Monster" that year. All three songs were written and choreographed by Chikada, with "UP and Down" reaching Number 15 on China's Tencent Music chart in February 2023.
