Founded by brothers José Luis and Raúl Ortega Castro, Río Roma is a music duo who performs in the Latin pop genre. In addition to his work with the group, José Luis previously gained notoriety as a songwriter, penning hits for Ha*Ash, María José, Alejandro Fernández, Yuridia, Camila, Alejandra Guzmán, and Pandora. Hailing from the city of Tulancingo in Hidalgo, both brothers showed interest in music from a very young age and participated in several school festivals and singing competitions. After José Luis moved to Mexico City to further advance his career as a songwriter under the tutelage of Sin Bandera’s Leonel García, the siblings began performing in 2008 under the name Josel y Raúl and released a self-titled LP through Sony Music that consisted mainly of Norteño music. Al Fin Te Encontré, their first title as Río Roma, arrived in 2011 and spawned the incredibly popular single “Me Cambiaste la Vida,” which appeared on the soap opera La Fuerza del Destino. The single was the first in a series of high-profile tie-ins with popular TV shows that continued with “Vida Nueva,” featured on the telenovela La Tempestad and included in their 2013 album Otra Vida. In 2014, Río Roma toured the US to promote their compilation Hoy Es un Buen Día and participated in the reality show Me Pongo de Pie. Preceded by the single “Te Quiero Mucho, Mucho,” the full-length Eres la Persona Correcta en el Momento Equivocado came out in early 2016 and was followed by an extended edition that included the collaborative singles “Princesa” with boy band CNCO and “Todavía No Te Olvido” with Carlos Rivera. The joint efforts continued throughout much of 2020 and 2021 when the band joined forces with Latin pop diva Thalia (“Lo Siento Mucho”), romantic crooner Leo Dan (“Niña, ¿Qué Tienen Tus Ojos?”), and the Regional Mexican Music band Calibre 50 (“Tú Eres Mi Amor”).
