Robert Leroux

Born in 1950 in Montreal (Canada), and died on April 26, 2005 in Montreal (Canada), Robert Leroux was a Quebec pop singer. In 1976, he appeared in the circus-themed musical revue Circociel . He released his eponymous debut album in 1979 with the song " Flash ", which brought him to the attention of Quebec radio. The following year, he took part in the first Quebec version of the rock opera Starmania , playing the character of Johnny Rockfort. His second album, Style Libre , was released in 1981. The songs " Entre musiciens " and " With my Life " received extensive radio airplay. That same year, he took part in the song " Au secours ", a duet with Céline Dion. In 1984, he launched his biggest career hit, which spent 10 weeks at the top of the charts with the song " 1254 New York ". The following year, he duets with Marjo on " Y'était temps que ça s'arrête ". In 1985, he placed another song at number one for a week, with " Illusions ". In the 1980s, he also composed songs for Martine Chevrier and Nicole Martin. In 1985, he was part of the musical project Les Yeux de la Faim (Eyes of Hunger) with several other Quebec artists, to help poor children in Ethiopia. Robert Leroux died of lymph node cancer in 2005, at the age of 55.
