Roberto Blades

Roberto Blades, born Roberto Blades Bellido de Luna Díaz on July 2, 1962, in Panama City, is a renowned Panamanian salsa singer and songwriter who built much of his career in the United States. The younger brother of iconic musician Rubén Blades, Roberto Blades initially planned to join the U.S. Air Force but ultimately pursued a path in music. His breakthrough came in 1981 in Miami, where he formed the tropical orchestra La Inmensidad, achieving major success with hits like "Lágrimas" and "Ya No Regreso Contigo." Over the years, Roberto Blades became known for his emotive voice and dynamic performances, further solidifying his status after teaming up with Latin music mogul Emilio Estefan Jr. His collaborations with artists like Gloria Estefan and Marc Anthony earned him his first Grammy, and later, he won a Grammy as a solo artist for 2001's Encore, a collection of his greatest hits. Some of his most popular tracks include "Señora," "Llorarás," "Flor Dormida," and "Víctima de Afecto." With a career spanning several decades, Roberto Blades has left a lasting impact on the salsa genre, blending passion and talent into each of his releases.
