Roman Lob was born on July 2, 1990 in Cologne and grew up in Rott, a district of Neustadt (Wied). His musical journey began at an early age when he learned to play the piano from his grandfather, who worked as a church organist. He later added guitar and bass to his skills. As a teenager, he was already active in various bands, including the metalcore group Days of Despite and the project Three of a Kind. His breakthrough came in 2012 when he won the German casting show Unser Star für Baku and represented Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku with the song "Standing Still". With the song written by Jamie Cullum, Steve Robson and Wayne Hector, Roman Lob reached 8th place and enjoyed great success in the German, Austrian and Swiss charts. Following the Eurovision performance, Lob released his debut album Changes (2012), which reached number 9 in the German charts. Other well-known singles include "Call Out the Sun" (2012) and "All That Matters" (2014). Since 2014, Roman Lob has also been the frontman of the Kölsch rock band StadtRand, with whom he has enjoyed local success and released the song "Orjenal" (2018), among others. Roman Lob won the Echo Pop in the "Radio Echo" category in 2013 for his hit "Standing Still" and established himself as a popular artist in the German music scene. In addition to his musical career, he performed as a solo singer in the Berlin revue The One Grand Show from 2016 to 2018.
