Swedish rockers Royal Republic were formed in Malmö in late 2007 by Adam Grahn (lead vocals/guitar), Hannes Irengård (guitar), Jonas Almén (bass), and Per Andreasson (drums) and released their debut We Are the Royal, recorded with Swedish producer Anders Hallbäck in Malmö. The album was met with a flurry of critical acclaim when it hit the shelves in Sweden two years later. Three tracks were also featured on the soundtrack of videogame F1 2011: "Full Steam Spacemachine," "I Must Be Out of My Mind," and "21st Century Gentleman." In early 2010, Royal Republic invaded the charts with a series of devastating singles ("All Because of You", "Tommy Gun" and "Underwear"). Their aforementioned debut, We Are the Royal, with its three-minute anthems, logically conquered the UK, then France in early 2011. The following year saw the release of the second opus, Save the Nation, with its new hit "Addictive". They enjoyed notable success in Germany with their third album Weekend Man, which went to number 15 in 2016, while evolving their sound from rock to dance-punk for 2019 effort Club Majesty. In 2024, Royal Republic burrowed even deeper into disco territory for their fifth album LoveCop.
