Sadek

While he may have started off as a freestyle rapper, French MC Sadek Bourguiba (May 25, 1991), aka Johnny Niuuum, aka Sadek Niuum, slowly worked his way into the vanguard of the vibrant Gallic hip-hop scene. Hailing from the Parisian suburb of Neuilly-Plaisance, Bourguiba honed his craft in freestyle battles around the French capital, namely the Le Quai 54 streetball tournament, and then embarked on a solo career mentored by event organizer Hammadoun Sidibé. After being featured on the compilations Street Lourd and Capitale du Crime, and making an appearance on DJ Abdel’s Evolution (2011), he made his official debut with the mixtape La Légende de Johnny Niuuum in 2012. His first studio album, Les Frontières du Réel, arrived in 2013 and was followed by the mixtapes En Attendant JNNMJ2 and Johnny Niuuum Ne Meurt Jamais, both released in 2015. That same year, Bourguiba rubbed elbows with the creme de la creme of French rap, landing guest spots on mixtapes by Lacrim, SCH, and Seth Gueko, and released a series of freestyles under the title Roulette Russe. While the mixtape Nique le Casino (2016) earned him his first gold record, the album #VVRDL (2017) was his first entry into the Top 5 and obtained platinum certification seven months after its release. In 2018, Sadek returned with Johnny de Janeiro, his fourth album, and continued his Roulette Russe series throughout 2019 and 2020. Subsequently, he issued the single “Labess” (2021), which peaked at Number 167 on the French charts.
