Saindhavi

Saindhavi (January 3, 1989) is an Indian Carnatic music performer and playback singer, mostly known for her extensive contributions to the Tamil and Telugu film industry. Apart from her film career, she also sang the theme for several soap operas and is one of the lead singers in Kosmic Music’s Sacred Chants series. Born in Chennai, she became interested in music through bhajans, a type of devotional song native to the Indian subcontinent, and began learning it professionally at the age of 10. During her formative years, Saindhavi continued to hone her craft under the tutelage of numerous mentors such as S.V. Usha, K.N. Shashikiran, and Smt. Padma Chandilyan. In 2003, she made her debut as a playback singer on the Telugu drama Gangotri with the song “Railu Bandi.” In the following years, Saindhavi quickly established herself as a top-tier vocalist, lending her voice to the soundtrack of the Tamil films Paramasivan (2006), Azhagiya Tamil Magan (2007), and Thalaivaa (2013), her first collaboration with composer and future husband G. V. Prakash Kumar. Subsequently, the husband-and-wife duo went on to feature on several film soundtracks together, including the 2021 biographical drama Thailavii, which included songs in Tamil ("Kannum Kannum Pesa Pesa"), Hindi ("Chali Chali"), and Telugu ("Nandhalala").
