Salvatore Adamo

An icon of kitsch for some, the embodiment of nostalgic tenderness for others, Italian-Belgian charmer Salvatore Adamo has weathered the decades by remaining so unfashionable as to be timeless. Having retained the affection of his public thanks to a most sincere and sympathetic personality, and, without even knowing it, sold over a hundred million albums worldwide since the start of his career, Adamo could have become forgotten with the years; he has become all the more topical for it. His sixties hits "Tombe la neige" (a huge international success), "Mes mains sur tes hanches", "Vous permettez, Monsieur " and "Les Filles du bord de mer " are regularly covered by new generations. Salvatore Adamo made a surprisingly dignified comeback in the 2000s, delivering the albums Zanzibar (2003), La Part de l'Ange (2007) and De Toi à Moi (2010) with great regularity. In 2012, Salvatore Adamo added twelve new songs to his repertoire on La Grande Roue. A tribute album to Gilbert Bécaud followed in 2014, before L'Amour N'a Jamais Tort, which, two years later, featured the duet "De père à fille" with Joyce Jonathan.
