Samuel Rosa

Samuel Rosa de Alvarenga, born on July 15, 1966, in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, is a renowned singer, composer, and guitarist. He gained prominence as the lead vocalist and guitarist of the rock band Skank, which he co-founded in 1991. The band's fusion of Brazilian rhythms with rock and reggae led to significant success, with albums like Calango (1994) and O Samba Poconé (1996) each selling over 1 million copies. Notable singles such as "Garota Nacional" propelled Skank to international recognition, especially in Latin America and Europe. Throughout his career, Samuel Rosa collaborated with esteemed artists, including Chico Amaral, Nando Reis, and Lô Borges, enriching his musical repertoire. After Skank announced a hiatus in 2019, Samuel Rosa embarked on a solo career, releasing his debut solo album, Rosa, in June 2024, which showcased his evolution as an artist.
