Sarah Silverman – born December 1, 1970, in Bedford, New Hampshire – is a comedian, actress, writer, and singer. Best known for her comedy, she began her stand-up career in 1992 and was hired as a writer and occasional performer on popular weekly comedy series Saturday Night Live during their 1993-94 season. However, her stint was not successful, and she was fired after one season. Her next profile job was a guest spot on hit cable television series The Larry Sanders Show in 1996. Her career began to pick up and she appeared on cable television comedy series Mr. Show (1995-1997) plus guest spots on series such as Star Trek: Voyager (1996), Seinfeld (1997), and Crank Yankers (2002). Sarah Silverman appeared in films such as There’s Something About Mary (1998), The Way of the Gun (2000), Evolution (2001), School of Rock (2003), Rent (2005) and Funny People (2009). She performed her own one woman show, Jesus is Magic, which was released in 2005 on DVD and also CD, which contained some of her parody songs. Her television series The Sarah Silverman Program made its debut on the cable channel Comedy Central in 2007 and ran until 2010. Songs featured on the series were gathered together on the 2010 album Songs of the Sarah Silverman Program: From Our Rears to Your Ears! Signing with Sub Pop Records, she released We Are Miracles, her new stand-up show, in 2014, which was followed in 2017 by A Speck of Dust, the soundtrack to her Netflix special. In the animated film Ralph Breaks the Internet, the sequel to Wreck-It Ralph, Sarah Silverman once again provided the voice of Vanellope Von Schweetz. In the film, she performed the song "A Place Called Slaughter Race" with fellow voice cast member Gal Gadot. In 2022, the song’s music video was named one of the Top 100 most viewed music videos in the United States, landing at Number 95 with over 78 million views. She has continued to act in films including Space Jam: A New Legacy (2021) and Marry Me (2022).
