Satan

Satan is a British heavy metal band that was founded in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1979. The band is part of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) and is considered one of the most influential bands of this genre. It consists of the members Brian Ross (vocals), Steve Ramsey (guitar), Russ Tippins (guitar), Graeme English (bass) and Sean Taylor (drums). The line-up changed several times in the 1980s before getting back together in 2011 and has been active in this formation ever since. Satan combines classic heavy metal with elements of proto-thrash and speed metal, which secures them a special place in metal history. Their debut album Court in the Act (1983) is a classic and was very well received. The band has since released several albums, including Suspended Sentence (1987), Atom by Atom (2015) and Earth Infernal (2022, number 12 in Germany). In addition to their successful discography, the band is also known for their intense live performances. After a temporary name change to Blind Fury and later Pariah, the band returned to their original name. They have performed at festivals such as Wacken Open Air and Hellfest and have made a name for themselves both in Europe and North America. The next Satan album, Songs in Crimson, will follow in 2024.
