Canadian singer, songwriter, and musician Saya Gray was born in Toronto, Ontario on October 16, 1995. Born to a Japanese mother and a Canadian father, Saya Gray was raised in a musical household and began playing piano at a young age. However, she switched to learning to play the bass guitar at the age of 10. She began performing with a Pentecostal church band before performing with the Quincy Bullen Band and teaching music at the age of 18. A year later, she relocated to London, England. Saya Gray spent the next decade as a touring bassist or musical director for artists like Willow Smith, Liam Payne (One Direction), and Daniel Caesar. In 2019, she began releasing her own music and issued her debut album, 19 Masters, in 2022. She followed the album up with a pair of EPs: QWERTY (2023) and QWERTY II (2024). She then released her sophomore album, Saya, in 2025.
