Famed for roles in Ghost World, Lost In Translation and Girl With A Pearl Earring, Hollywood leading lady Scarlett Johansson has forged a parallel role as a bohemian Jane Birkin-style songstress full of indie credibility. First signs of musical talents emerged on the charity album Unexpected Dreams: Songs From The Stars (2006) where she sang the George Gershwin standard Summertime, before she joined The Jesus and Mary Chain on stage at their reunion gig at Coachella festival in 2007. Later that year she recruited TV on the Radio's Dave Sitek to produce a debut album of Tom Waits covers (including one self-penned original song). With contributions from Yeah Yeah Yeahs' guitarist Nick Zinner and David Bowie, Anywhere I Lay My Hat (2008) turned Waits' songs into brooding walls of sound while Johansson's pouting, lush vocals were generally well-received. Clearly bitten by the music bug, she covered Jeff Buckley's Last Goodbye for the soundtrack to the movie He's Just Not That Into You before collaborating with Pete Yorn on the duets album Relator (2009).
