Sech is the stage name of Panamanian reggaeton singer-songwriter and producer Carlos Isaías Morales Williams. Born on December 3, 1993 in Río Abajo, Panamá, he grew up in a very poor family and had to work from a very early age to make ends meet. The beginning of his music career dates back to 2008 when he formed a duo named Los Principiantes with his brother. Together, they released the songs “Te Llamaba” (2008) and “Amigos Con Derechos” (2009) but dissolved shortly after. In 2013, he struck a musical partnership with friend and fellow producer Rafita, naming themselves El Combo de Oro. After the duo’s dissolution, Sech embarked on a solo career that began in 2014 with the single “Yo Sin Tí.” Follow-up singles “La Terca,” “No Me Olvides,” and “Tocó Mentir” were issued in 2015 while “El Error,” “X 4 Días,” and “El Kabreo de Tu Pollo” arrived in 2016. The release of the viral single “Miss Lonely” in 2017 exposed Sech’s music to a wider audience in Latin America and caught the attention of producer Dimelo Flow, who signed him to his label Rich Music. The Sensation Mixtape hit the shelves in 2017, reaching Number 84 in his native Panama. This success was followed by the EP The Sensation (2018) and Sueños (2019), his proper studio debut. The album featured the track “Otro Trago,” a duet with Puerto Rican singer Darell that charted in Spain and the US and earned him a nomination to the Latin Grammys. In 2020, after scoring a handful of high-profile collaborations with Latin music heavyweights Daddy Yankee (“Definitivamente”), Bad Bunny (“Ignorantes”), and Wisin y Yandel (“Ganas de Tí”), Sech resumed his solo work with the EP A Side and the full-length 1 of 1. 2021 marked the advent of his third full-length 42, whose lead single “Sal y Perrea” peaked at Number 63 in Spain.
