Although the German reggae band Seeed are virtually unknown outside mainland Europe they have built up a core of enthusiastic followers in Germany and neighbouring France, Austria and Switzerland. The band consists of a collective of eleven musicians which includes a horn section and three vocalists. They often collaborate with other artists and during their career have worked with established names such as Cee-Lo Green, Anthony B, General Degrees as well as a variety of Jamaican musicians and performers. The combination of German vocals overlaid onto a backdrop of reggae and dub might sound like an unlikely combination but Seeed's sound has earned them credibility within the reggae genre. The group have released five albums, all of which have sold in significant numbers in Europe and spawned numerous hit singles. In 2012, after a six-year recording hiatus, their self-titled fourth album went straight in at number one in the German charts and was certified platinum in the process. On 31st May 2018, frontman Demba Nabé aka Boundzound passed away.
