Segun Adewale

The vocation of Segun, a bassist and singer from a royal Yoruba family, was born at parties hosted by his father, an amateur guitarist. In the early 70s, he learned composition and arranging from I. K. Dairo, the modern "king of juju". In 1977, Segun Adewale created "yopop", a genre in which he mixed juju with high life, jazz, reggae and funk. His album Play For Me brought him international success.
