Sexyy Red

Born Janae Nierah Wherry on 15 April 1998 in St. Louis, Missouri, the US rapper known as Sexyy Red gained notoriety following the release of her breakout single with producer Tay Keith, "Pound Town" in 2023, which achieved viral fame on TikTok and gave her a taste of the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. Praised for her confident demeanor, she was nominated for Best Breakthrough Hip Hop Artist at the 2023 BET Hip Hop Awards and continued to dominate the conversation that year with features on remixes of "Shake Sumn" by DaBaby, "Slut Me Out" by NLE Choppa and also alongside SZA on Drake's "Rich Baby Daddy" single. The hit Nicki Minaj-featuring remix of "Pound Town," "Pound Town 2," appeared on Sexyy Red's second mixtape Hood Hottest Princess, which she followed with In Sexyy We Trust in May 2024. The tape packed in guest contributions from the likes of Drake ("U My Everything"), Lil Baby, and Mike Will Made It, and reached number 17 on the US Billboard 200. "Get It Sexyy," a single from In Sexyy We Trust, peaked at number 20 on the US Billboard Hot 100, becoming her first Top 40 solo entry.
