Shizuka Kudō

Shizuka Kimura (木村 静香), from her maiden name Shizuka Kudō (工藤 静香) was born on April 14, 1970 in Hamura, Japan. She began her singing career with the pop trio Seventeen Club, formed as a result of the Miss Seventeen Contest organized by Seventeen magazine. The group split up after just two tracks, "Su Ki Futari Tomo!" and "Baajin Kuraishisu". Shizuka Kimura joined a new group while still in high school: Onyanko Club, which had various subdivisions with up to 38 members. At the same time, in 1987, she became one of the three members of Ushirogami Hikaretai, known for the single "Toki No Kawa Wo Koete", which hit number one in Japan that year. She also takes part in the recording of "Katatsumuri Samba", Onyanko Club's eighth single, which reaches number one in Japan. But the band split up in September 1987, opening the door to a solo career for Shizuka Kimura. She had already unveiled her first single a few days earlier: "Kindan No Telepathy" . It was an immediate success, reaching number one in the Japanese charts. She repeated this performance in 1988 with "Fu-Ji-Tsu", written by songwriter Miyuki Nakajima. This was followed by a series of eight consecutive number ones between 1988 and 1990, including "Mugon... Iroppoi" (1988) and "Koi Hitoyo " (1989). She also released 17 albums between 1988 and 2017, including Shizuka (1988), Joy (1989), Rosette (1990) and Mind Universe (1991), all of which reached number one in Japan. She also recorded cover albums, including 「感受」ShizukaKudo 35th Anniversary Self-cover Album, released in 2022 and ranked number 22, which brings together reinterpretations of her own songs by the singer, to mark her 35th anniversary in the music business. In 2024, seven years after her last studio album, Rin, Shizuka Kudō released Meikyo Shisui, driven by the single "Yusha No Hata ", which reached #28 in the Japanese charts.
