Punk band Short Stack was formed in Budgewoi, New South Wales, Australia in 2005. Originally, the group was comprised of Shaun Diviney (vocals), Andy Clemmensen (bass, backing vocals), Bradie Webb (guitar), and Shannon Hotchkins (drums). However, Hotchkins left early on and Bradie Webb moved to drums and Shaun Diviney took over as guitarist as well as lead vocalist. Short Stack has remained a trio ever since. Their debut album, One Size Fits All, was an extremely limited release with a pressing of only 40 copies. After signing with Sunday Morning Records in 2007, the group began to earn a reputation. They won the Channel V Oz Artist of the Year award in 2008 and released their proper debut album, Stack is the New Black, in 2009. The album climbed to the Number 1 spot on the Australian Albums chart and featured the Number 2 single “Sway, Sway Baby.” Their second album, This is Bat Country (2010), reached Number 6 on the album chart and included the massive hit single “Planets.” Short Stack began recording their third album, Art Vandelay, but announced their breakup in 2012 before the release was finished. While the members pursued solo projects, their label finally released Art Vandelay as an EP in 2013. The group reunited in 2014 and released the album Homecoming (2015) before breaking up again. After five years spent pursuing other interests, the members of Short Stack announced a second reunion in 2020, releasing their fourth album, Maybe There’s No Heaven, in April 2022.
