Vocalist/guitarist Leah Wellbaum and drummer Will Gorin began making music together as students at Sarah Lawrence College in Yonkers, New York. They later moved to Boston, Massachusetts, where they formed the alternative rock band Slothrust in 2010. The group debuted with an EP titled The Demo(n)s in June 2010, then returned in 2012 with a full-length record, Feels Your Pain. "7:30 AM," the album's lead single, became the opening theme for the FX television program You're The Worst. A second full-length album, Of Course You Do, followed in February 2014. The band signed with Dangerbird Records in July 2016 and released a new single, "Horseshoe Crab," one month later. The song also appeared on Slothrust's Dangerbird debut, Everyone Else, which was released in October. After spending much of 2017 on tour, Slothrust released 2018's The Pact, which hit number 11 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart. The Peach EP followed in late 2019. Although the COVID-19 pandemic sidelined the band's touring schedule, Slothrust found time to return to the recording studio, where Wellbaum and Gorin recorded their fifth album, Parallel Timeline. In late 2023, the group made a return to the Billboard charts with "Pony," a single that climbed to number 37 on the Mainstream Rock Airplay chart.
