Smino

Smino is the stage name of Christopher Bjorn Smith Jr., a hip-hop solo artist who also appears in the supergroups Zoink Gang and Ghetto Sage. Smith was born on October 2, 1991, in St. Louis, Missouri. Initially billed as "C. Smi," he formed the underground rap duo Young Dumb and Outta Contro with Bari Allen in 2009. The group released digital albums like 2009's A Thousand Miles & Jumpin and 2010's Pardon the Interruption before Smino began recording solo material. His mix tape Smeezy Dot Com marked his first release in 2012, followed by a pair of EPs — S!Ck S!Ck S!Ck and Blkjuptr — in 2015. He then launched Zero Fatigue, an artist collective and independent label, and self-released his debut album Blkswn in 2017. The album appeared on Rolling Stone's list of the year's best hip-hop albums, and Smino returned in 2018 with Noir, which became his first album to reach the Billboard 200. Charting at Number 191, Noir featured 18 songs written by Smino, along with appearances from multiple Zero Fatigue collaborators. It was followed by a second mixtape, She Already Decided, in April 2020. After affiliating himself with the Motown label, Smino released his third full-length album, Luv 4 Rent, in October 2022, reaching Number 50 on the Billboard 200 and Number 28 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Additionally, the single "90 Proof" became his first entry on the American Top 100, where the song peaked at Number 83.
