SONBEST is a French rapper from Colmar. He made his debut in 2018 with a debut EP entitled Immersion, now unavailable on platforms. He gradually made a name for himself with his Grind Mode series of freestyles (including the tracks "Grind Mode", "Phantom" and "Magic"), where the outlines of his style were already taking shape: a mix of cloud rap and melancholy trap. On June 12, 2020, SONBEST gained notoriety with his EP Lotus, supported by the track "XO" and its video relayed by the Règlement Radio channel. Here, he asserts a more introspective pen and a more organic sound universe, flirting with vocals on airy productions. He continued in 2021 with Arcane, then Immersion II in 2023, which included collaborations with J9ueve and Squidji. In 2024, he unveils Mélodie des Marécages, an 11-track project marked by a strong presence of rock influences in the instrumentals, while retaining his dark, poetic signature.
