It's not often that a band unknown to the general public celebrates its fortieth anniversary. Yet that's what Breton band Sonerien Du is doing in 2012. In doing so, Sonerien Du continues a tradition it began in 1982. At the time, it had to cheat a little to celebrate its ten years of existence, the real date going back to 1971. Since Bal Breton in 1972, Sonerien Du hasn't been content to celebrate anniversaries. The group has played a major role in the evolution of fest-noz music, introducing African percussion, rock drums and electric guitar. Live'niversaire in November 2012 celebrates the event in style, offering Sonerien Du's first DVD in the process.
