Sorea Band is a South Korean girl group whose songs are influenced by traditional South Korean music, as well more contemporary sounds like jazz and pop. Musicians XOi and Taya formed Sorea Band in 2005, choosing the group's name as a combination of the phrase "Soul of Korea." With a traditional approach to a modern sound, Sorea Band's members were quickly heralded as cultural ambassadors, resulting in performances at venues like the White House. They released original music, too, beginning 1st Single Album in 2006. Featuring five songs, 1st Single Album was followed in 2009 by another full-length record, Monsterious Story. The group received the Korea Sparkling Festival Achievement Award that same year. A digital single, "Deepest Sorrow," followed in 2011. After releasing the four-song project A Song For You in 2013, Korea Band issued a series of shorter releases throughout out. All four of those releases — Zincha Zanchi, Aguiadiaracha, Heartbeat Of The Deepest Sea, and Eastern Angels of Winter — featured two tracks apiece. Although that collection of recordings marked Sorea Band's final releases for nearly a decade, the group continued to sell well, with their sophomore record Monstrous Story going gold in 2023.
