SpongeBob SquarePants (original title: SpongeBob SquarePants) is an animated series from the USA. The American marine biologist and animated film producer Stephen Hillenburg developed the series in 1998. Due to the enormous success of the series in German-speaking countries, albums with German lyrics have been released regularly since 2009. The songs are very often child-friendly cover versions of well-known international hits. The first album of this kind, Spongebob, was released in 2009. The album SpongeBob's Greatest Hits followed in the same year. another album, BOBmusik - Das gelbe Album, was released in 2011. The album becomes a number 1 hit in Austria. In Germany, it reaches number 12. In 2013, the album Bob Star - Das total abgedrehte Album enters the top 10 in Germany (number 6) and Austria (number 3). At least one new album by SpongeBob SquarePants is released in the following years. This was also the case in 2021, when Schwammtastisch made it to number 16 in Germany.
