Encouraged from his first album by a Django d'or for Novembre in 1992, Stéphan Oliva is a discreet pianist who is well accompanied. In addition to tributes to Bill Evans(Jade Visions, 1996), Lennie Tristano (the albums Tristano in 1999 and Sept Variations sur Lennie Tristano in 2002) and writer Paul Auster(Coïncidences, 2005), the film-mad pianist added a score to the silent film Loulou and dedicated many of his compositions and improvisations to the seventh art. The album Film Noir released in 2011 is a brilliant testimony to this.
