Stile Antico

Award-winning classical vocal ensemble Stile Antico was formed in London, England in 2001. Best-known for specializing in pre-18th century polyphonic early music, they don’t have a conductor and they perform similar to chamber musicians, each contributing artistically to the end musical results. Stile Antico came to prominence when they won the inaugural Audience Prize at the Early Music Network International Young Artists’ Competition in 2005. Signing to Harmonia Mundi, they released Music for Compline in 2007, followed by Byrd: Heavenly Harmonies (2008), Song of Songs (2009), Sheppard: Media Vita (2010), Passion & Resurrection (2012), From the Imperial Court: Music for the House of Hapsburg (2014), A Wondrous Mystery (2015), In a Strange Land (2018), and A Spanish Nativity (2019). Their albums have won the group’s critical praise and they’ve been honored with several Diapason d’or Awards (2008, 2010, 2013, and 2019) and Gramophone and Classics Today awards. Over the course of their career, Stile Antico collaborated with other artists including Fretwork, B’Rock, Marino Formenti, the Folger Consort, and Sting. After 15 albums with Harmonia Mundi, Stile Antico signed with Decca Classics in 2020 and released the albums Josquin des Prez (2021) and Byrd: The Golden Renaissance (2023).
