Stone

Real name Annie Gautrat, singer Stone was born in Paris on July 31, 1947. The daughter of an operetta singer, she too was drawn to the limelight, and in 1966 took part in the "Miss Beatnik" competition. French singer-songwriter Éric Charden was on the jury. That same year, he proposed to her, and while Stone had already embarked on a solo career in the sixties with songs like "Vive la France " and Serge Gainsbourg's "Buffalo Bill ", the artistic duo Stone et Charden was formed in 1972. Over the next three years, they racked up a string of hits, including the famous "L'Avventura". But when the group divorced in 1974, each of them resumed their solo careers. Stone took part in the musical Mayflower, returned to the stage in the early 1980s and made a few rare film appearances, while continuing to add to his personal discography. In the late 1990s, the duo she formed with her ex-husband Éric Charden gave in to the prevailing nostalgia and reformed to take part in galas and TV shows. They promoted the compilations released during the decade, then reunited on stage for the Âge tendre et Têtes de bois tour in 2007. In 2012, Stone and Charden were knighted in the order of the Légion d'Honneur, before releasing Made in France, an album of covers of famous French duets. Sadly, Éric Charden died that same year. From then on, Stone kept a low profile, publishing her autobiography Complètement Stone in 2017, before taking part the following year in the Âge tendre, la tournée des idoles tour, during which she sang the duo's hits: "Le Prix des allumettes", "Il y a du soleil sur la France", "L'Avventura" and "Made in Normandie".
