Mandopop singer-songwriter Su Yunying was born on April 8, 1991, in Sanya, Hainan, China. She first came to prominence on the 2015 season of China’s televised talent show Sing My Song. Her musical journey began when, influenced by Li folk music, she became interested in singing. She attended Beijing Contemporary Music Academy and studied folk music before switching to Pop during her sophomore year. During her senior year, she began writing her own songs. She eventually formed her first band, but they broke up after a few months together and she chose to continue as a solo artist. In 2015, Su Yunying successfully auditioned for the second season of Sing My Song. Due to her popularity on the show, she signed to Sony Music and released the singles “Firefly,” “Yezi,” and “2-0+1” before the release of her debut album Ming Ming at the end of the year. After several more singles - “Xin Xin” (from the film Toys War), “Dongfang Bubai,” and “LuGuo Wo Er Duo De You Shang” - Su Yunying released her sophomore full length, Fairyland, in 2018. She followed that three years later with the release of her third album, Su Yunying (2021). In 2022, she performed “Darling Darling” on the TV series The Oath of Love and returned to the charts with the single “Yue Xia.” Over the course of her career, she has won accolades for her distinct voice and has been honored with many awards from the Chinese Music Media Awards, the Cool Music Asia Awards, and the 31st Glory Festival of Music Pioneer List.
