Supergrass

Sideburns bristling, Supergrass's burst of cheeky, retro indie fitted perfectly with the wave of Brit pop bands sweeping the airwaves in the mid-1990s. Early singles Caught by the Fuzz and Lenny introduced them to the indie crowd but it was the huge success of UK Number 1 Alright that broke them firmly into the hearts of the mainstream and helped take debut album I Should Coco (1995) to the top of the charts. Their success continued with follow-up In It For The Money (1997) and the hits Going Out, Richard III and Sun Hits The Sky, before the glam stomp of Pumping On Your Stereo led the way for third album Supergrass (1999). Gradually maturing and growing into a more rounded rock beast, Supergrass' sense of fun and ear for an irresistible hook never died, but by the time of their sixth studio album Diamond Hoo Ha (2008) the hits had dried up and the band agreed to split in 2010.
