The Japanese pop/folk singer Takako Okamura was born in Okazaki in 1962 and began her career in the music business at the age of 20 with her then music partner Haruko Kato. They formed the duo Aming but it was to be a short-lived project which lasted just two years, but during that time the duo had a hit single with 'Matsu-wa' which they released in 1982. The exposure provided by Aming's hit provided the springboard for Takako's solo career and during the next two decades she became one of Japan's most popular singers with over 15 albums and 30 singles to her credit. In 2007, she put her solo career temporarily on hold and reformed Aming for a 25th anniversary reunion. Sadly in 2019 it was announced that the singer was suffering from leukaemia, and it is not known whether she will be able to resume her singing career.
