As a film actor, television star, solo artist, and boy band member, Tan Jianci has maintained a spot in Chinese pop-culture since the late 2000s. He was born on October 5, 1990, in Guangxi, China, and also spent time in Japan as a boy. While still a teenager, he made his film debut by portraying Xiao Chuan in the 2008 movie Lost Indulgence, then joined the C-pop boy band M.I.C. one year later. Initially known to music fans as "JC-T," Jianci appeared on a number of M.I.C. albums throughout the 2010s, including 2010's Rock Star, 2011's V, and 2014's SOLO. He released his first single as a solo artist, "Fly Away," in 2014, a year that also found him appearing in the TV programs Soul Food and Strength to Fly as an actor. Bridging his interests in acting and singing, he began releasing a string of solo songs on various soundtracks during the late 2010s, including "The Memories I Want to Keep" (from 2018's My Classmate From Far Far Away) and "Adoring" (from 2019's Adoring). The early 2020s saw him continuing to appear on TV soundtracks, but the era also saw him covering new ground as a solo artist, particularly with the 2022 solo single "IMMA GET IT."
