Born in Haiti and raised in the United States, where she studied at the University of California at Berkeley, Teri Moïse arrived in France in 1990. From 1992 onwards, Teri Moïse worked as a backing singer and began composing her own songs. Her gentle voice made a name for itself on "Les Poèmes de Michelle " in 1996. That same year, Teri Moïse 's album was a hit, earning her the Prix Vincent Scotto awarded by SACEM and the Victoire de la Musique for best French-language performer in 1997. This first album also included the hit "Je serai là". This ideal start was thwarted in 1998 by the album Teri Moïse (1998 ), which failed to make a similar impact. Teri Moïse then disappeared completely from the scene until May 16, 2013, when it was announced that she had committed suicide in a Madrid hotel room on May 7. Teri Moïse was forty-three years old.
