Boozy, boisterous 1990s rock favourites Terrorvision were too happy-go-lucky for grunge and too grizzly and raucous for their Britpop peers as they mixed heavy metal riffs with bouncy pop choruses and a wild, ragged energy to become a fixture on the indie circuit, scoring the big, sing-a-long pop hit "Tequila" in 1999. Led by frontman Tony Wright, the teenage friends started out playing local pubs as the Spoilt Bratz in 1987, but set up base in Bradford, West Yorkshire in 1991 and took their new name from a cult, sci-fi B-movie. Signed to EMI, they became favourites of Kerrang! magazine and heavier rock crowds thanks to early albums Formaldehyde and How to Make Friends and Influence People, before Regular Urban People made it to number eight in the UK Charts and produced the top ten hit singles "Perseverance" and "Bad Actress." Initially, there seemed to be less interest in their fifth album Shaving Peaches, but when Radio One presenter Zoe Ball started playing a remix by electro duo Mint Royale of their jaunty, drinking song "Tequila" on her breakfast show, it became a massive novelty hit and went on to reach number two in the Singles Chart. They released their final album Good to Go and played a sold-out farewell tour before splitting in 2001. They announced their reunion in 2016 to support British metal act Thunder on tour and released a documentary film the following year, tracking them as they embarked on a tour to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their biggest-selling album Regular Urban Survivors. They made a triumphant comeback in 2024 with their first studio album since 2011's Super Delux. We Are Not Robots was released in September 2024 on their own Total Vegas Recordings.
