Tex Lecor

Born on June 10, 1933 in Saint-Michel-de-Wentworth (Canada) and died on September 9, 2017 in Terrebonne (Canada), Joseph Henri Paul Cyrille Lecorre, known as Tex Lecor, was a Quebec folk singer, humorist and painter. He released his first 45 rpm in 1959, entitled " Le Grand Jos ". Its success led to his first album, Complexe de la Chanson Canayenne , the following year. In 1961, he released his second opus, Mes Chansons. He scored his first radio hit with the song " Le Dernier des vrais " in 1963. In 1970, he hosted the weekly variety show Sous Mon Toit on Télé-Métropole. The following year, he popularized the play " Le Frigidaire ", originally written by Georges Langford. The song was so successful that it was translated into over ten languages. In 1973, he released Quand Je Rêve... C'Est En Couleur , with the song " Ti-Bicycle ", which reached the top of the Quebec radio charts. He scored another hit in 1974 with " La Théière " from his eponymous album. That same year, he began his radio career, hosting Le Festival de l'Humour Québécois on Montreal's CKAC. He also develops his concept Les Insolences d'un Téléphon.e , where he calls people on the phone to tell them jokes. Tex Lecor released his last original album in 1978 with the hit " Lucille ", a French version of the Kenny Rogers song. He then embarked on a career as a professional painter, while working on a number of shows, including Y'A Plein de Soleil on the TQS television network, where he co-hosted from 1998 to 2010.
