Initially a rapper with the group The Wooliganz in the early 1990s, Alan Daniel Maman really came into his own as a DJ and producer under the name The Alchemist. Born in Los Angeles in 1977, he made his name working on Cypress Hill's album III: Temples of Boom (1995). A protégé of DJ Muggs, he collaborated with Mobb Deep in 1999 on Murda Muzik , then on The Platform by Dilated Peoples. The Alchemist released his first solo album, 1st Infantry, in 2004, worked as Eminem's DJ in 2005, and released numerous mixtapes, including the two volumes of Rappers Best Friends and Russian Roulette in 2012. Associated within Gangrene with Oh No, he released The Alchemist and Oh No Present: Welcome to Los Santos in 2015.
